So you select a file, like one of these here, and I just tap Spacebar and it opens up a Quick Look window and I can continue to do arrow down to go through the Spotlight results here to see different things. Instead of seeing previews for files inside the Spotlight window you're now going to see them in Quick Look. The thing is now that it is in Spotlight as well. You could have already done that in the Photos App. That's actually recognizing what's in the photo. That's not a tag or subject or anything like that. Now if I scroll down I could see a section of results comes from my Photos. For one thing it will now show you images. But it still recognizes the word even though I haven't spelled it correctly. So if I search for something like this, see I've misspelled that. In addition to that searching is a little smarter. You can now click up here next to the Send button and you can choose to send later and schedule an email to go out. You don't have to send a message right away anymore. It basically delays sending for about 10 seconds so you can change your mind before the mail is sent. When I send a message I now have the ability to Undo Send. If I try to send the message then it will ask me if I maybe forgot the attachment. See how I wrote in here that I was going to include an attachment. One of them is that it will remind you if you forgot to include an attachment. The Mail App has a bunch of new features. You could also group some windows together, even windows from different apps. I can switch to anyone of those very easily just by clicking. All the other windows are now pushed over to the left. You can turn it On in Control Center, Stage Manager, and now you can see that I just have the window for Reminders here. But Stage Manager is a new tool and helps you deal with lots of windows, like all the different windows that I have here. You still can use multiple windows and manage them as you like. First we've got a new way to multi-task called Stage Manager. Let's take a look at the biggest changes. So there are a ton of new things in macOS Ventura. Let's take a look at what's new in macOS Ventura. For people sticking to Monterey or even Catalina, however, apps like Tuck and HazeOver can also do the same trick.Video Transcript: Hi, this is Gary with. MacOS Ventura’s new Stage Manager multitasking tool is designed to help you declutter your messy pile of windows and focus on one at a time. You can try it for seven days via SetApp, a collective subscription for 200+ Mac apps that starts at $10 a month. Plus, TextSniper supports Mac’s “Import from iPhone and iPad” function, which means you can capture a photo or screenshot on your iPhone or iPad, and the app will allow you to paste the text inside it on your computer. In addition to grabbing text from videos, TextSniper also comes in handy for apps and websites that block copying like PDFs or online courses. The app runs the screenshot through an OCR engine, extracts all the visible text out of it, and adds it to your clipboard. All you have to do is take a screenshot of it. TextSniper is a little utility that lets you instantly copy text from any screen. TextSniper replicates this on prior macOS versions. On macOS Ventura, you can pause a video at any moment and copy whatever text is in the frame like you would normally on, say, an online article. There’s plenty more to like about Alfred: You can personalize how the search bar looks, integrate third-party apps, such as Evernote and Twitter, and control the music playback.Īlfred is a free app to start, but I’d recommend upgrading to the £34 (~$42) Powerpack version, which gets you all the aforementioned pro features. However, you can grab add-ons and add these abilities to Alfred in seconds. For instance, Alfred can’t run timers or fetch the weather forecast by default like Ventura. You can not only search the web and preview files right inside Alfred’s search results, but also extend what it can do with add-ons similar to Chrome extensions.Īlfred has a vast catalog of extensions for accomplishing just about anything you can imagine on the search bar. Apart from the usual trappings of a universal search, Alfred comes loaded with several pro tools you can’t find on macOS Ventura. You can think of Alfred as Spotlight on steroids.
